"Triggered by smells, thoughts, events, people, places, words and objects, memory is time within which past things can be remembered. Recorded on film they are persistent and clear. Persistence of Memory brings recent ancestors into the 21st century. They are the observers looking into the future. Fragments of their histories handed down through generations reunite them with the every day objects that survived them.

Florence, my Nana was very fond of flowers. Margaretta, her sister was concerned with fashion ....... Working digitally with old photographs has reaffirmed my awareness of the regimentality of life in the late 19th and early to mid 20th Centuries. The formality of the photographic event, the place of mother in the hierarchy of the family, of father and husband preparing for war, and of less formal moments too.

These photographs are personal, though the viewer may relate to them. They are fragments of past lives and past events". Pat Maycroft
