Elder daughter of Lancelot, Florence Bertha worked as a hat maker in the millinery department of Dickson and Benson's in Middlesbrough. She married and brought up three children.

As a young woman she had enjoyed painting flowers in oils. Later her love of flowers was in the growing of them and regular trips to admire her blooms were made.

My Nana and maternal grandmother, Florence lived in Darlington, Co.Durham (North East England).
