Flower Studies - camera work

Camera work

The stalks of the blooms were cut to an angle of 45 degrees as seen in most Victorian botanical prints.

The blooms were placed onto a light box and arranged in a pleasing manner. The light box was used to create a translucent effect.

This was counteracted by the use of lamps set at 45 degrees to the light box. I wanted to record the arrangement as a 'flat' image on black and white film.

An MPP large format camera allowed me to work with one image at a time using a separate sheet of 5"x4" film for each arrangement. Time was of the essence as I was working with live blooms.
